Let’s separate signal from noise. Every startup says it’s changing the game. Most just crank up the volume. But every now and then, a team actually tunes the frequency, turns chaos into clarity. That’s Sibel Health. Born in 2018 as a spin-out from Northwestern University’s Querrey Simpson Institute for Bioelectronics, this Chicago-based company isn’t chasing hype. It’s chasing truth in data, continuous, clinical, and real. The mission? Better Health Data for All®. Not a slogan, a system.
Led by Co-Founder & CEO Dr. Steve Xu and Co-Founder & CTO Dr. Jong Yoon Lee, Sibel took years of soft electronics research and converted it into FDA-cleared, commercially deployed tech. Their ANNE® One platform, a pair of adhesive, medical-grade sensors called Anne Chest & Anne Limb, captures heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, motion, even fall detection, all in real time. It’s a hospital monitor that fits on skin, talks to the cloud, and listens with precision. Not cables. Not clutter. Just signal.
The platform’s earned 7 FDA 510(k) clearances, runs in 20+ countries, and connects through a Discovery platform now used in global pharma trials. Offices in Chicago, Seoul, & San Diego anchor the operation, but its reach is clinical: Northwestern Medicine, Dräger, Samsung Next, Maruho Co., Ltd., and even Copenhagen’s Capital Region hospitals use Sibel to power continuous care. This isn’t pilot-stage science, it’s field-proven infrastructure.
And the market is responding. Today, Sibel Health announced a $9M Series C extension, bringing total Series C to $39M & total funding to ~$82M across all rounds. Steele Foundation for Hope led again, joined by Dräger, Samsung Next, & Maruho. The new capital fuels U.S. & EU hospital deployments, dermatology digital health expansion with Maruho, and scaling of the Discovery platform for pharma. It’s a precision raise for a precision mission.
Chairwoman Kimberly Querrey, Vice Chair Tim Sullivan, & Dräger’s Toni Schrofner back the board, ensuring the company stays surgical in execution. With AI-driven analytics, vertical integration sensor-to-cloud, & IEEE 11073 SDC interoperability, Sibel’s tech doesn’t just collect data, it predicts what’s next.
