In ecommerce, everyone obsesses over pixels. Button color. Page speed. Funnel math. Meanwhile the most expensive asset in the stack keeps ringing unanswered like a bar phone at 2 a.m. Consio AI exists because Philippe Roireau and Martin Latrille spent years inside Gorgias watching brands squeeze blood from emails while the phone, the highest intent channel in commerce, sat there ignored, misunderstood, and wildly under tooled.
Consio AI is based in Toronto, built by two operators who already lived this problem at scale. Philippe Roireau ran partnerships and go to market at Gorgias. Martin Latrille helped architect the guts of the platform as it grew into a Shopify mainstay. They did not wake up one day chasing voice because it sounded futuristic. They followed merchant behavior. When customers are ready to buy something expensive, personal, or complicated, they pick up the phone. Always have. Always will.
The company launched in January 2025 with a single customer, Evolv Wellness. Less than a year later, Consio AI hit ten times revenue growth and crossed one million dollars in annualized revenue. Over one hundred Shopify merchants now run their phone channel through Consio, generating millions in incremental sales that were previously evaporating into missed calls, voicemail limbo, or overwhelmed support queues.
The product is not cosplay AI pretending to be helpful. Consio plugs directly into Shopify, Klaviyo, and Gorgias to give voice agents real context. Inbound calls get answered around the clock. Outbound campaigns chase abandoned checkouts and high value customers with intent, not spam. Every call is recorded, transcribed, summarized, and tied back to revenue so the phone finally shows up in the dashboard like a grown up channel.
In January 2026, Consio AI raised a three point three million dollar seed round led by RTP Global, with participation from Jason Lemkin’s SaaStr Fund, Mu Ventures, the Gorgias founders Romain Lapeyre and Alex Plugaru, and operators from Ramp and Datadog. Thomas Cuvelier from RTP Global backed the team on a simple thesis. Voice is still the most underutilized conversion lever in commerce, and these founders know exactly where to apply pressure.
The name Consio is short for conversation, and that is the point. This is not about replacing humans. It is about respecting the moment when a shopper is ready to talk, ready to trust, ready to buy. In a market drowning in automation theater, Consio is quietly turning phones back into revenue engines, and the line is still ringing.
