GoodDay Software did not start with a deck. It started with scars. The kind you earn when inventory math decides whether payroll clears. Founded in 2023 in Austin, Texas, GoodDay came out of the Chubbies Shorts war room, where Kyle Hency and Dave Wardell learned the hard way that legacy ERP systems do not care about Black Friday, cash flow cliffs, or Shopify-native reality. They were told to pick the least bad option. That advice aged about as well as dial-up.
Kyle Hency, now Co-founder and CEO, had already scaled Chubbies from $100M to over one hundred million before its 2021 acquisition by Solo Stove. Dave Wardell, Co-founder, President, and CPO, lived inside the finance and inventory stack for nearly a decade, navigating near-death moments with negative $2M in cash and zero room for bad data. When both walked away, they separately landed on the same conclusion. The system was broken. They met on a golf course, compared notes, and decided to build what they wished they had. They brought in John Gully, Co-founder and CTO, fresh off leading 50+ engineers at Shopify, to make sure the foundation was clean, modern, and unforgiving to bad assumptions.
The result is GoodDayOS, an AI-native ERP alternative built directly inside the Shopify admin. Not bolted on. Not stitched together. Embedded where operators already live. Inventory-first by design, because inventory is where brands win or bleed. FIFO-based COGS, real-time ledgers, purchase orders, landed costs, three-way match, wholesale, marketplaces, and financial workflows that respect speed instead of worshiping complexity. Implementation measured in weeks, not seasons. No consultants circling the meter.
On January 16, 2026, GoodDay Software announced a $7M seed extension led again by Ridge Ventures, FirstMark Capital, and Flex Capital, with Long Journey Ventures, Adverb Ventures, and Seguin Ventures joining the table. Total funding now sits at $13.5M. More than forty Shopify brands are already live, including Hill House Home, Margaux NY, The Normal Brand, Kenny Flowers, and American Tall. One of them walked off NetSuite. That alone tells you this is not theory.
GoodDay is not trying to be everything. It is trying to be right. Built by operators who remember the panic of miscounted units and late containers, now backed to push agentic workflows that do the work instead of narrating it. GoodDay is less about good vibes and more about good math, good timing, and good decisions when it actually counts, which raises the only real question left hanging in the room.
